For those of you who are new to our page, welcome! I’m Liz Ray, sole baker, cookie decorator, and owner of Warmed & Fed Cookies. I was born and raised in Texas but moved to North Carolina in 2007.
My eldest daughter asked me one Christmas to make her some sugar cookies. I had never made dough or baked a cookie besides the famous Pillsbury dough log. After doing some research and testing a few recipes, I finally created one of my own. My first batch came out surprisingly delicious and addictive. I shared cookies with everyone and was suggested to sell them. At that time, I was a stay-at-home mom of two with many responsibilities and unknowingly dealing with postpartum depression. With much support from my husband and others, it encouraged me to open an online store with Etsy selling custom-made decorated sugar cookies. People found my little online store and were ordering! The demand increased and I was shipping my cookies all across the US.
When 2020 came with many uncertainties due to Covid-19, shipping rates and restrictions increased considerably. The business took a direct hit. I was sitting at my kitchen table asking God for guidance. No one knew how the days ahead were going to be now. When it seemed like hope was deferred, my business gained local recognition. This coming March 2021, I will be celebrating 7 years! I do all the baking, decorating, and packaging in our small mill house kitchen with a toddler running around sneaking a few of the extra cookies. My work table, equipment, and utensils are commercial and NFS graded. I appreciate you supporting our small family business and for allowing us to be a part of your life by providing comfort and joy with our cookies. It's hard work and challenging at times.
